Judicial Commission (JC) appoints four new additional judges for Lahore High Court (LHC), an order declared by a committe chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Ubhair Gul, Tariq Bajwa, and Raj Ghazanfar Ali Khan have been appointed as extra judges for a one-year tenure.
The commission examined eight applicants for the post at the meeting. Akbar Gul Khan, Jazeera Aslam, Tariq Mehmood Bajwa, Shahida Saeed, Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Qaiser Nazir Butt, and Akmal Khan were among those who made the short list.
Media reports state that Tariq Mehmood Bajwa won twelve votes, Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh received ten, Ubhair Gul Khan received eleven, and Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan received fourteen.
Furthermore, the commission expanded the constitutional bench by including Justice Hashim Kakar, Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, and Justice Shakeel Ahmed.
