Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah has taken over as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman.
According to details, Jay Shah, the son of Indian Cricket Board Secretary and Home Minister Amit Shah, who belongs to India’s BJP, took over as ICC Chairman today after Greg Barclay completed his term.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay’s term was till November 30, Greg Barclay had announced his resignation in August, and Jay Shah was elected ICC Chairman unopposed on August 27.
Jay Shah served as the Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board for 5 years, Jay Shah will remain the ICC Chairman for the next 3 years.
The ICC has also confirmed that Jay Shah has started working as the ICC Chairman, and Jay Shah’s term as the Chairman of the ICC has begun.
Jay Shah said in his statement that he is proud to take over the post of ICC Chairman, and is grateful for the support and trust of the ICC Directors and Member Boards.
It should be remembered that yesterday, news also emerged from sources that the tenure of ICC Chairman Greg Barclay may be extended by one month after the deadlock between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the BCCI on the issue of the Champions Trophy.
However, now there are reports that the issue of the Champions Trophy is expected to be resolved by tomorrow, and it is possible that the issue of the Champions Trophy will be resolved before the voting in the ICC Board members’ meeting.
If the Indian Cricket Board and ICC accept Pakistan’s formula, then for the next three years neither the Indian team will come to Pakistan to play nor the Pakistani team will go to India to play matches. This model will be called something else instead of the hybrid model.
