Jaffer Express attack: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir are set to visit Quetta by today (Thursday), amid Jaffer Express attack.Jaffer Express attack.
According to media reports, PM and COAS will attend the funeral prayers of those martyred in Jaffer attack. In Jaffer express hijack, about 21 lost lives, media reports say.
During this visit, Shehbaz and Asim will also call for a meeting to address the Jaffer express incident. Security officials will also attend this meeting to brief COAS and PM about the details of the incident. Security agencies will inform COAS about the rescue operation and the counterterrorism measures taken to eliminate the perpetrators
According to media reports, Asim Munir will also present a strategy for the better security management.
Jaffer Express Operation
Earlier, the Director General (DG) Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt General Ahmad Sharif on Wednesday told the media that the operation, launched after the hijack of Jaffar Express, has been completed.
According to the DG ISPR all Terrorists have been neutralized.
“On March 11 in Bolan, terrorists targeted a railroad track around 1pm and blew it up with a blast and stopped the Jaffer Express. According to railway officials, the train had 440 passengers,” he gave the statement on a private channel.
Lt general Chaudhary provided the details about operation and highlighted the operational difficulties posed by the incident site’s remoteness, which was far from cities and had no road links
“The terrorists used hostages, including women and children, as human shields. The recovery operation was immediately started,” he added.
According to him, army, air force, Frontier Corps and SSG personnel had taken part and rescued the hostages.
“These terrorists were in contact with their supporters and masterminds in Afghanistan during the operation via satellite phone. You saw that around 100 passengers were safely rescued yesterday evening from the terrorists, and today as well, a large number of passengers have been recovered,” Lt Chaudhary said.
