Israeli attacks on a refugee school and a residential building in Gaza killed at least 13 Palestinians and injured 15, according to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency, WAFA, early Saturday.
WAFA reported that at least eight of the fatalities were in refugee tents near Halima al-Sa’diyya School in Jabalia, northern Gaza.
In a statement, the Israeli army claimed that it had “conducted a precise strike on soldiers who were operating within a Hamas command and control center… implanted inside a compound that used to be known as the ‘Halima al-Sa’diyya’ School in the northern Gaza Strip.”
Five Palestinians were killed in a separate event when Israel struck a residential structure in the Nuseirat area in central Gaza.
According to the local health ministry, Israel’s ensuing assault on the enclave has killed approximately 40,800 Palestinians, displaced virtually the entire population of 2.3 million, caused a starvation crisis, and resulted in genocide claims at the World Court, which Israel rejects.
As per the United Nations, more than 1.9 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are internally displaced, with some uprooted more than ten times.
