Israeli military hit historic fortress in the Lebanese city of Baalbek through airstrike, killing 40 people.
According to health ministry Israeli military strikes on Baalbek and the Bekaa Valley resulted in killing 40 people while 53 sustained injuries. However, Israel has yet to make any comment.
Baalbek is called the “City of the Sun”. The city is renowned for its historical sites. According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Culture the building, adjacent to Baalbek Fort, held heritage status. The heritage building, dates back to the Ottoman Empire, severely impacted in the recent attack.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry over 3,500 people, are killed while more than 13,700 are injured in the ongoing Israeli attacks since October 2023.
