In a recent Israeli airstrike targeting Syria, Hassan Jafar Qassir, son-in-law to former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, has been killed.
According to reports from Arab media, Hassan Jafar held a prominent position within Hezbollah and was also the brother of Mohammad Jafar Qassir, commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, a key division within the organization.
Israeli airstrike in Syria occurred shortly after Hassan Jafar’s arrival in Damascus, Syria’s capital. His brother, Mohammad Jafar, had been killed the previous day in another Israeli airstrike. Israeli authorities had accused Mohammad Jafar of overseeing the transportation of military supplies from Iran, with whom he had strong connections.
Syrian state media reported that the Israeli airstrike hit a residential area in Damascus, resulting in three fatalities and three injuries. The identities of the other victims were not immediately released.
This incident continues a trend of Israeli strikes in the region. Earlier this year, a similar attack resulted in the death of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence chief and his deputy, highlighting the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, and adding to the already volatile situation in the region.
