Israel has announced to ban the UN relief agency UNRWA from operating in the country to aid Palestine refugees.
Israeli officials claimed that a few UNRWA staff was involved in the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel. They also pointed out that some UNRWA employees are connected to Hamas and other militant groups who work against Israel.
“UNRWA employees who were involved in terrorist activities collaborating with Hamas must be held accountable,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned.
Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, condemned this unjust law passed by Israel parliament. “This law violates the U.N. charter and international law. This move will effect UNRWA’s role in aiding Palestine refugees”, Lazzarini stated.
According to the reports of the Palestinian emergency service, around 100,000 civilians are enclaved there. Now the decision of Israel to ban UNRWA aid is expected to worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Civil Emergency Service reports around 100,000 people in Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoun lack food and medical supplies. This situation will worsen if Israel does not take back the decision.
In previous days during a raid on a hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp, Israeli forces detained about 100 suspected militants. However, Hamas and local medical staff claimed that no militant was present there.
