In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) holding a public protest at its Sangjani area today, the Islamabad administration on Sunday increased its security alert and closed off several routes leading to the federal capital.
The relevant authorities has issued directives to the police officers, requiring them to stay within their jurisdiction, provide all necessary equipment to staff on duty, and make sure that cell phones are not used while on duty.
Containers are positioned at many strategic locations across the federal capital to limit vehicular flow in order to preserve the state of law and order.
Every path that leads to the red zone has been blocked off with containers. The Margalla Road route is the only way for pertinent parties to access the red zone. Additionally blocked is the artery that leads from Chongi No. 26 on GT Road Taxila.
A number of locations along the Islamabad Expressway are closed, and there are also blockages at Rawat T Chowk, Khanna Pull, and Faizabad.
Residents of the twin cities have had severe difficulties as a result of the road closure between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, even though other routes have been made available for their convenience. Additionally, police have been stationed along the detour routes.
Additionally, on the district administration’s order, the metro bus service from Rawalpindi Saddar Station to the Pakistan Secretariat has been canceled because of the political party’s public gathering in Sangjani.
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the district administration have made the decision to essentially cut off the venue from the rest of the federal capital in an effort to quell any possible disturbance during the PTI jalsa.
The rally site is full with dirt, pits, and sand piles. Chair placement proved to be challenging for the organizers because of the uneven and rugged terrain.
