Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Information Secretary Raoof Hasan was detained by the Islamabad Police on Monday from the PTI Central Secretariat. Hasan was in charge of a digital media unit that was purportedly spreading misinformation about Pakistan and its integrity.
Police confirmed that they only detained Hasan during a search on the basis of evidence after news about the arrest of the PTI spokesperson and Chairman Gohar Khan appeared.
“The PTI digital media centre has turned into a centre of international disinformation, from where anti-Pakistan disinformation is run throughout the world,” police stated.
Gohar said he accompanied Hasan to the police lines, but the police let the PTI chairman to return home because he was not wanted in any case. He stated that the PTI secretary for information was being held in the Police Lines.
According to the police, everyone directly connected to the anti-national propaganda was detained along with all of the evidence seized from the PTI’s digital media unit.
According to the PTI, police also seized a computer and a few other items from the party secretariat.
The party on X posted a video of many police cars and some police officers outside their secretariat.
Four women were reportedly arrested, and papers and a laptop were taken from the workplace, according to police sources.
PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman denounced the raid at the central secretariat of the erstwhile ruling party and asserted that the detention was carried out under the “Form-47 government’s command.
