Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, has claimed that there has been no progress toward Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release. He said that the administration has endeavored to persuade American authorities to grant her pardon but has yet to succeed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a letter to the US President, demanding humanitarian assistance for Dr. Aafia. A three-member group has been created to urge American MPs for her release, pardon, and return to Pakistan.
Dar delivered these statements on Tuesday at the international conference “China 75: A Journey of Development, Transformation, and Global Leadership”.
He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to expanding the effort to improve collaboration in agriculture, economic development, renewable energy, and other areas.
Dar stated that CPEC has improved Pakistan’s energy infrastructure, assisting the government in dealing with load-shedding difficulties.
He said that the government is taking preparations to carry out China’s promise to send 1,000 Pakistani students to China for agriculture technology training.
In a letter to the US president, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui had been sentenced to 86 years in jail by a US District Court.
