Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has cautioned the Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad about Fakhar Zaman’s explosive batting, which he said could win a match on its own, while disparaging the Pakistani batting order as weak.
Speaking on Star Sports, Kaif made this statement when evaluating Pakistan’s chances prior to the country’s opening T20 World Cup 2024 match against India on June 9. Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York will host the thrilling match.
The former hitter claimed that most of Pakistan’s players played at a low strike rate, with the exception of a few. He described Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman as powerful rapid hitters.
He claimed that Pakistan’s poor batting was well known. “Fakhar plays a little too quickly, and he can probably win the match by himself if he fires.”
“Iftikhar (also) plays fast, but everyone else plays at a strike rate of 120 to 125,” Kaif said. You are clearly afraid of their bowling but not so much of their batting.
The cricket pundit, meanwhile, lavished admiration on Pakistan’s pacers, bringing up memories of Naseem Shah’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against India in particular.
