Social media platform X has taken action against the Hebrew-language account of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, suspending it for violating its policies.
The account, identified as @Khamenei_Heb, displayed a message indicating its suspension due to alleged breaches of X’s regulations. This decision followed a post from Khamenei’s account stating, “The Zionist regime made a mistake. It erred in its calculations on Iran. We will cause it to understand the power, ability, initiative, and will of the Iranian nation.” This statement coincided with an Israeli military operation targeting Iran.
X’s community standards typically prohibit content from “violent and hateful entities,” although there are provisions allowing posts from “state or governmental entities.” The account suspension took place amid rising tensions, particularly following Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Iran after a ballistic missile incident on October 1.
This is not the first instance of Khamenei facing a suspension or removal from social media platforms.
