Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Monday (today), foreign office confirmed.
Strict security measures have been taken as teams from Iran have also arrived Islamabad to review security arrangements for the president visit. Raisi is visiting Pakistan along with high-level delegation of Islamic Republic’s officials.
Foreign office says the visiting leader will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and other top members of the government. Mr Raisi is the first head of a foreign country who is arriving Pakistan after the general election. He is visiting Islamabad amid high tension between Israel and Iran.
According to officials, leaders of both countries will discuss bilateral relations including trade, energy, agriculture and people-to-people contact. The delegations of both Islamic neighbours will also discuss regional security and measures to curb cross border terrorism, they said.
Iran and Pakistan will also discuss Palestine and Kashmir issues as the former is fully supporting Islamabad stance on Kashmir and both states back Palestine cause.
Iran has recently indulged in war like situation with Israel after the later hit, according to reports, Iranian embassy in Syria, killing Iran army’s top commanders. Tehran later launched missile and drones attack on Israel in retaliation. Israel also hit Iran’s central province Isfahan a couple of days ago, targeting Iran’s nuclear sites which Tehran says are safe and protected.
Iran and Pakistan will discuss the current situation of Middle East and Gaza war, officials of the foreign office say.
Pakistan has made all arrangement to welcome the guest who is likely to be received by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the PAF Base Nur Khan Islamabad. Officials say Iranian President will also visit Mizare Quaid Karachi to pay homage to the founder of Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari will accompanied him during the visit.
