Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Pakistan on Monday.
Officials of the foreign minister received him at Noor Khan Airbase Islamabad. He is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Jalil Abbas Jilian, the caretaker foreign minister.
Abdollahian will hold crucial dialogues with Pakistan officials. He is visiting Pakistan at a time when both countries revived diplomatic ties after brief tension in relations.
Iran, two weeks before, launched a missile attack inside Pakistan “to hit terrorists’ hideouts.” Pakistan responded it very next day and hit areas inside Iran’s borders. Later, Islamabad ordered the expulsion of Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan calling back its diplomat from Tehran. However, both countries revived diplomatic ties on Friday.
Unknown gunmen on Saturday, two days before the FM’s arrival, killed nine Pakistanis in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province.
The foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan will hold crucial talks with his Pakistani counterpart. The visit of Iran’s top diplomat holds key importance for the improvement of bilateral ties.
