Internet speed and general digital Infrastructure is under improvement guarantees Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for IT, Pakistan.
She admitted during her speech at a 5G technology seminar in Islamabad that the nation has many issues with internet access.
Shaza noted that the increasing demand of digital services has severely stressed current networks, sometimes disrupting service.
She noted that Pakistan had recently bought one of the biggest undersea cables in the globe while going over efforts to enhance digital connectivity.
Once this undersea cable is running, she promised it will greatly help to boost national internet connection.
She also proposed that should further improvement of the nation’s digital infrastructure be required, more submarine cables could be introduced.
Shaza Fatima Khwaja stated that Pakistan intends to start a spectrum auction at the beginning of April to speed up the development of highspeed internet.
Emphasizing forecasts showing $1.3 trillion rise in global GDP by 2030 from 5G related breakthroughs, she underlined the need of 5G technology in the development of world economy.
The minister restated the government commits to increase connectivity and guarantees to keep nation aligned.
Moreover, with worldwide technological advancement; currently, Pakistan operates within a 274 MHz spectrum.
Along with the activation of the recently acquired undersea cable, the forthcoming spectrum auction is forecast to digital democracy.
