Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi refuted claims on Sunday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had been detained.
During remarks to the press following the funeral of a martyred police officer in Islamabad, Naqvi dismissed rumors regarding Gandapur’s arrest, clarifying that the government does not have him in custody.
He also mentioned that authorities possess footage showing Gandapur leaving the KP House in Islamabad.
Addressing another question, Naqvi vowed that those behind the death of Islamabad Police Constable Abdul Hameed Shah would face justice.
He further revealed plans to offer a Shaheed package to the martyr’s family and secure jobs for both of his sons.
Speculation over Gandapur’s sudden disappearance since Saturday evening has caused concern within his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Some sources claim Gandapur was last seen at the Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, with conflicting reports circulating about his possible detention.
Earlier, Faisal Amin Gandapur, the chief minister’s brother, and opposition leader Omar Ayub both alleged that he had been arrested.
