Ramadan 2025 Kareem, also known as the holiest month for Muslims is here and Muslims are excited than ever.
An interesting fact about Ramadan 2025 is that it follows the lunar calendar that makes it shift back and forth around 10 days each year.
This shifting of days of Ramadan due to lunar calendar has now brought it back into winter season and Muslims are fasting in winters after almost 17 years in Pakistan.
The shifting of Ramadhan in winter season has made the fasting hours shorter and temperature more desirable for the next one decade.
For the people born in early 2000s, they might remember fasting in winters. However, kids who were born after 2005 might not have any memory of winters being in Ramadan.
So this change is very wholesome for the generations born from 2000 to 2010. However, starting this year, Ramadan will fall in winters until 2037, after which it will again transition back to summers.
One of the most interesting facts about this transition is that Muslims of Pakistan will face the shortest fast in 2031 and 2032. During these years, Muslims will only have to fast for 10.5 hours each day and this will be a very big change in contrast to 16-17 hours fast in summers.
Another interesting occurrence is that in year 2030, Muslims will fast for Muslims will fast for two times in one year, that is, once at the start and then at the end of the year.
This occurrence will happen due to the difference between lunar and solar calendar, which will make Muslims to fast for almost 38 days in that year.
However, the Ramadan will again go back to summers. For now, Muslims can appreciate and enjoy this rare opportunity of fasting in cooler days and shorter fasts and more comfortable environments for prayers and worship.
