During a regular briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has clarified that no congratulatory correspondence had occurred between Pakistan and India’s leaders.
She emphasized that Pakistan chooses not to meddle in India’s domestic matters and avoided commenting on the revocation of passports for asylum seekers abroad, stating that this is under the jurisdiction of Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior.
Baloch asserted that India’s leaders are not regarded seriously by any sovereign nation. Highlighting the tradition of congratulating foreign leaders, she mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had extended congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a tweet.
She also stated that there was no necessity to respond to allegations made by Indian media.
On the Pakistan-China relationship, Baloch expressed optimism about the progress in their cooperative partnership in the upcoming months.
Regarding the return of illegal Afghan nationals, she noted the ongoing implementation of a plan to repatriate them. She reiterated Pakistan’s security concerns, noting that they have communicated their terrorism-related worries to Afghanistan.
When questioned about Khadija Shah’s travel situation, Baloch indicated that the judiciary would make the final decision.
