Indian man, Thomas Gabriel Perera, from Thumba in Kerala, trying to enter Israel without permission has been shot dead.
The Jordanian troops are said to have executed the Indian native on trying to cross the border illegally.
The horrible event happened on February 10, say sources.
After the incident, the Indian Embassy in Jordan verified the sad information and stated it was in contact with Perera’s family.
In cooperation with Jordanian officials, the embassy is also helping to expedite the repatriation of his remains.
Before trying unlawfully to cross into Israel, 47 year old Perera had arrived in Jordan using a visitor visa.
Edison, still shot but related to Perera, also attempted to cross the frontier but survived.
Edison was ultimately returned to India after getting medical treatment for his wounds.
This event took place amid a time of growing regional uncertainty characterized by rising West Bank violence and continuous Israel Hamas fighting.
