KARACHI: In an encounter with Indian fishing boats engaged in illegal fishing within Pakistani waters, a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) officer lost his life while two Indian fishermen remain missing.
According to a spokesperson for PMSA, an operation was initiated against the illegal fishing activities of eight Indian boats simultaneously within Pakistan’s exclusive economic zone.
During the operation, one Indian fishing boat, with seven fishermen onboard, attempted to flee to the Indian side to evade capture. After a prolonged chase, the Indian boat’s crew abandoned their vessel and attempted to flee, allowing PMSA officials to board the boat.
As PMSA officials were transferring the Indian crew onto their vessel, the Indian boat suddenly increased its speed, resulting in a collision with a Pakistani maritime agency vessel, causing it to capsize.
