The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the India will team will comply with International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, which includes adding Pakistan name on Jerseys.
Addressing recent speculation on social media, BCCI Secretary Deodjit Sekiya clarified that India would adhere to all ICC directives.
Reports had suggested India might avoid including the host nation’s name on their kits, but the BCCI has dismissed such claims, ensuring full compliance with ICC standards.
In an interview reported by CrickBuzz, Sekiya emphasized that the team will also adopt the ICC’s official logo, which incorporates Pakistan’s name, as part of their playing and training kits.
He further noted that ICC regulations require all participating teams to seek approval for their uniforms before the tournament.
This protocol aligns with previous practices, such as the 2017 Champions Trophy, where England and Wales were highlighted as hosts on all teams’ jerseys, and the 2023 World Cup, where Pakistani players displayed India’s name without objection.
The Champions Trophy 2025, often dubbed the “Mini World Cup,” is set to commence on February 19, 2025, in Pakistan.
India will play its first match against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai, as part of the hybrid hosting model agreed upon by Pakistan and the ICC.
Under this model, all matches involving India will be held at neutral venues in the UAE, continuing the arrangement for Pakistan-India fixtures at ICC events through 2028.
