The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has extended the custody of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for another six days in connection with case number 2831, linked to an arson incident on September 28.
The case was lodged at the New Town police station.
Judge Amjad Shah made the decision during a hearing conducted at Adiala Jail, where the prosecution successfully requested additional time for Khan’s physical remand.
Imran Khan had been arrested by Rawalpindi police shortly after receiving bail from the Islamabad High Court in the Toshakhana II case last week.
The current case involves allegations of arson, encroachment, stone pelting, and resisting law enforcement, with charges also including damage to government property under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
A police official revealed that a special investigation team, headed by the SSP Investigation, is interrogating the former prime minister. Khan is set to appear in court again tomorrow for further remand proceedings.
Earlier, following his arrest, Imran Khan was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court at Adiala Jail, which initially granted a five-day remand.
Although the Islamabad High Court had recently granted Khan bail in the Toshakhana II case against a bond of Rs1 million, he remains in custody due to numerous other pending cases.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, who issued the bail order, reminded Khan to comply with court proceedings unless officially excused.
