Former prime minister Imran Khan’s appeal against 14-year imprisonment in the Toshakhana case is set to be heard on October 29.
The case will be heard by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) panel, which includes Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Gul Hasan Aurangzeb. The IHC CJ considered several requests for an early hearing on Imran Khan’s appeal against the Accountability Court’s verdict in the Toshakhana case.
He approved the petitions for an early hearing and ruled that the main appeal be heard on October 29.
In the Toshakhana case, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir sentenced Imran and his spouse Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison apiece. Later, the IHC halted the sentence and granted Imran Khan bail.
The appeal in contrast to Toshakhana verdict was pending and scheduled for hearing on October 29.
Meanwhile, the IHC has asked the PIMS executive director to form a medical board to examine PTI founder Imran Khan.
The court has also asked that Dr. Faisal Sultan, the PTI founder’s personal physician, be appointed to the board and that the report be sent to the Registrar Office.
The court directed that a copy of the order be sent to the superintendent of the Adiala Jail for execution. The decision stated that Imran Khan, the 72-year-old founder of the PTI, was a former prime minister and an under-trial prisoner.
