Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan said that if there are attempts to destroy the Supreme Court, he would initiate a nationwide protest movement.
Imran Khan said that he institutions belong to everyone, not just the Army Chief. It is crucial for the entire nation that these institutions remain strong. He criticized those damaging institutions by undermining them, claiming that if corrupt and incompetent individuals are appointed to institutions, it would lead to the country’s downfall.
He was speaking informally with the journalists at Adiala Jail after hearing of the 190 million-pound reference on Wednesday.
Imran Khan expressed discontent over the Pakistan cricket team’s poor performance, highlighting that they were whitewashed by Bangladesh. He questioned the competence of the current PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, and criticized the appointments made by the authorities, alleging that Naqvi is corrupt and fraudulent. He compared this with his own decision to appoint Ramiz Raja, a professional cricketer, as PCB Chairman.
Imran Khan said that the Chief Justice has reserved the decision on the NAB amendments appeal for two and a half months, implying that the verdict on the NAB amendments might be delayed until a verdict is delivered in the 190 million-pound reference.
He mentioned that appeals against NAB amendments have frozen four references against Shahbaz Sharif, five against Nawaz Sharif, and nine against Asif Ali Zardari and his associates.
He further claimed that NAB has stopped major donations to Al-Qadir University with the intent of shutting it down, which would have indirect effects on him. He added that if Shaukat Khanum Hospital were to close, patients would face ten times more expense for treatment.
Imran Khan also reported being kept in solitary confinement, with limited visits and restricted communication with his family. He expressed frustration over his conditions and the lack of communication with his children.
The PTI founder warned that if there are attacks on the Supreme Court, which he views as the last remaining symbol of justice, he would lead a nationwide protest against such actions.
