Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan recently underwent a scheduled health check at Adiala Jail, conducted by a team of doctors from PIMS Hospital, according to prison sources.
The examination was part of a routine assessment, which occurs bi-weekly and was not triggered by any urgent health issue. Jail officials confirmed that there are no concerns about Khan’s health at present.
In a separate development, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, has dismissed four Adiala Jail officers, including Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan and Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram.
According to a report from Geo News, the Punjab Home Department issued a formal notification regarding their termination.
The disciplinary action was taken following an inquiry into the death of an inmate in the prison’s mental health cell earlier this year.
The officers were found responsible for negligence during the investigation, which focused on the circumstances surrounding the prisoner’s death on February 29. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing, as per the Punjab Inspector General of Prisons’ orders.
