Imran Khan, incarcerated leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, has announced to launch nationwide ‘Civil Disobedience Movement’ if the government does not comply with the party’s demands.
At the time when the PTI leaders are detained in several cases, Khan has announced a major escalation against the federation crackdown on the party workers and supporters.
Earlier, tensions escalated during the PTI protest at D-Chowk, leading to the deaths of several demonstrators and security personnel. Defying Supreme Court orders and causing harm to the state, authorities arrested thousands of PTI protesters.

Recently, Mr. Khan took to X and voiced against the government’s harsh crackdown on PTI demonstrators.
‘The November 26 protest resulted in the deaths of at least 12 PTI workers and the arrest of 1,000 others. Not only this hundreds of PTI supporters remain unaccounted for”, Khan wrote.
In his post, the PTI leader revealed to formulate a five member committee to negotiate with the government and put their demands in front of them. This committee would include Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Salman Akram Raja, and Asad Qaiser.
“The committee will demand for the release of political prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incidents of May 9, 2023, and the November 26 crackdown”, Imran unveiled.
In this post Khan warned the government that if it would not align with its party demands ,a civil disobedience campaign will commence on December 14.
“The government will be responsible for any consequences of this movement, if our demands are not met”, Khan wrote.
Additional to this Imran also declared that party workers would gather in Peshawar on December 13 to pay tribute to the martyrs of D-Chowk protest.
Winding up his post Imran Khan urged the supreme court to address the human rights abuses. He also called on the Supreme Court to step in and uphold its constitutional responsibilities.
