PTI founder Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Lahore Hight Court (LHC), seeking court protection against his possible army transfer.
Rumours are circulating that incarcerated former prime minister will be handed over to the Pakistan Army for May 9 cases trial. He is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi and arrested under a dozen cases related to May 9 violence.
He was arrested following the suspension of his sentence in two Toshakhana corruption references and acquittal in Iddat and Cipher cases. The NAB had also filed another Toshakhana reference against him.
The court granted his physical remand to police and NAB in May 9 and Toshakhana cases.
Khan has filed the petition through his lawyer Salman Safdar, appealing the court to issue order that he must be kept under civilian custody. PTI says the cases against Khan are politically motivated and his being victimised for putting resistance against country’s powerful military establishment.
