Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Thursday that the party would delay its planned rally in Rawalpindi, originally set for September 28.
Speaking from Adiala Jail, where he is currently detained, the former prime minister expressed awareness that the current government was unlikely to grant permission for the event.
As a result, Khan instructed party leaders to withdraw their previously submitted application for holding the rally.
Despite the postponement of the power show, Khan confirmed that PTI would still organize protests in Rawalpindi this Saturday. He added that the party’s lawyers’ wing would also be staging a demonstration outside the Supreme Court.
PTI had earlier submitted a formal request to the Deputy Commissioner’s office to hold the rally.
The application, submitted by District President Chaudhry Ameer Afzal and District General Secretary along with a team of lawyers, emphasized the party’s right to conduct peaceful gatherings, highlighting PTI’s status as the largest political group in the country.
The proposed venues for the event included Liaquat Bagh and Bhata Chowk.
