PTI founder chairman Imran Khan has made first interaction with Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa during the former appearance before the top court via video-link from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The five-member bench led by CJP Isa and comprising Justices Athar Minallah, Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Hasan Azhar Rizvi has earlier decided not to live-stream the hearing with 4:1 decision. Justice Athad Minallah voted in favour of live-streaming.
Former prime minister appeared in the case related to NAB laws amendments.
Khan complained that he had not been allowed to meet his lawyers and neither he had any access to library for the preparation of case arguments. He said he had been kept in solitary confinement in Adiala Jail.
It was second appearance of Khan before the SC bench via video-link. During the earlier hearing, he could not get a chance to speak during more than three-hour hearing. However, his picture went viral on social media when someone took a screenshot from the computer screen fixed in the court and spread it on Facebook, X and other social media platforms.
The top court live-streamed the hearing of the case on May 14 but during the two appearances it decided not to do so as the reasons are unclear.
If goes live, this could be the first appearance of Khan since he has been arrested and put in jail on August 2023.
Khan has also given first interview to world’s known journalist Mehdi Hasan from jail cell. The interview published on Hasan’s personal digital platform Zeteo on Wednesday.
