Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, has made a last appeal for supporters to gather in Islamabad on November 24.
His call for protest centers on what he refers to as a “robbed mandate,” the “unjust detentions” of his followers, and the recent passing of the 26th constitutional amendment bill by the government, according to sources on Wednesday.
After his arrest in August 2023 on various charges, PTI has organized numerous protests nationwide, demanding Imran’s release and alleging “election interference” ahead of the 2024 polls set for February 8.
Since the events of May 9, 2023, PTI’s leadership has faced repeated arrests, often in connection with leading protests.
Just recently, several top PTI members were briefly detained outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for violating Section 144 but were promptly released with a caution.
In October, police conducted multiple arrests of PTI leaders and activists across Punjab, targeting those involved in protest actions.
In September, authorities also detained several top party leaders and 11 lawmakers, though they were soon released.
Notably, Imran’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, along with numerous PTI members, were detained last month in Islamabad for allegedly organizing a protest.
Both were granted bail and released soon after. Following her meeting with Imran at Adiala Jail on Wednesday, Aleema urged all PTI members, including ticket holders, parliament members, and supporters, to heed the call for the final protest.
