Imran Khan, a former cricket player who is now a politician, blamed Pakistan’s dismal showing in the ICC Champions Trophy on favoritism in important appointments.
After meeting with a detained politician at Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan, the sister of the PTI president, cited what he had to say. After watching Pakistan’s match on the official network, Imran Khan expressed his annoyance, she added.
Khan, 72, placed the blame squarely on Mohsin Naqvi, whom he says has done a great deal of damage in his roles. Imran called Naqvi’s tenure as Punjab’s chief minister “dreadful,” claiming that as interior minister, he carried on the catastrophic tradition.
The founder of the PTI also criticized Naqvi’s cricketing expertise, saying that any accountable official would have quit following such a dismal showing but thought Naqvi would not.
Aleema also addressed untrue stories on her brother’s condition, particularly those that said Imran had passed out. She stated that Imran’s health was excellent and that these allegations were false.
She offered her thoughts on disinformation, emphasising that firsthand accounts are more trustworthy than rumours from unconfirmed sources.
The loss to India in the ICC Champions Trophy drew harsh criticism from cricket fans and former players. A number of former players criticised the fast bowling attack, Khushdil Shah, and Salman Ali Agha’s selection and demanded a total rebuild of the team.
Men in Green’s incapacity to play at a higher level was questioned by cricket greats, and Akhtar expressed shock at their performance.
