Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, have had their physical remand extended by 11 days in connection with the latest Toshakhana case.
The extension was granted during a hearing held at Adiala Jail on Thursday, presided over by Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
Both Khan and Bibi appeared before the court, with NAB’s investigator Mohsin Haroon and Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar in attendance.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) revealed that the couple had only partially cooperated with the investigation during their previous 10-day remand and requested an additional 14 days to complete their probe.
Defense attorneys Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry and Intizar Panjutha represented the couple. The court decided to extend their remand by 11 days and scheduled a new hearing for August 19.
This extension adds to the 24 days Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi have already spent in remand related to this case.
Previously, on July 13, the couple was cleared of charges in the Iddat case, but their relief was short-lived as they were promptly detained again in the new Toshakhana reference.
The current allegations involve the couple’s purchase and subsequent sale of a Rs75 million jewelry set from Toshakhana.
