The Islamabad Accountability Court has prolonged the physical remand of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, for an additional week in connection with the ongoing Toshakhana investigation.
Initially, on July 14, the court granted an eight-day remand for the couple. However, following a request from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the court has now extended their detention until next Monday.
The extension comes as NAB submitted a progress report detailing the couple’s alleged involvement in the Toshakhana case. The report outlines accusations that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi possessed and allegedly sold ten high-value gifts, including seven watches.
This extension aligns with a recent federal notification that mandates the couple’s continued detention due to concerns over maintaining public order. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of the case.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were detained on July 13, just after being granted bail in a separate legal matter related to the Iddat Nikah case. Their arrest has sparked significant public and political interest amid the Toshakhana probe.
