A special court in Islamabad has formally charged former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana case, also known as the jewelry set case.
The indictment, overseen by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, took place at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Initially investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Toshakhana case was later transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after changes to NAB laws.
The FIA submitted its findings in September, accusing the couple of causing financial losses to the state by unlawfully selling state gifts.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were first arrested in connection with the case on July 13. While Bushra Bibi was granted bail and released in October, Khan remains in custody due to other ongoing legal matter.
Imran Khan is currently facing a staggering 188 cases, while Bushra Bibi risks re-arrest after missing hearings.
In December, Judge Arjumand issued bailable arrest warrants against her, with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) warning that her bail could be revoked.
The couple’s legal troubles are part of broader allegations against Khan, including 99 cases in Punjab, 76 in Islamabad, and additional cases filed by the FIA and NAB.
As the charges continue to mount, Khan’s legal battles show no sign of abating.
