To control traffic during the ICC matches in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has finalized the traffic plans.
For the practice match on Sunday, February 23, the Common Training Program has put in place a comprehensive traffic control strategy.
On the highways would be about 367 traffic police officers, including inspectors, wardens, and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs).
In order to control traffic on other routes while the cricket teams are moving, more officers have been assigned.
From February 23 to 27 during ICC matches in Rawalpindi, following roads will be blocked and reopened:
- When foreign teams arrive and depart, Murree Road between Faizabad and Double Road will be totally blocked.
- Faizabad traffic will be diverted to the Expressway in order to reach Rawalpindi from Islamabad.
- Vehicles from Rawalpindi can use 6th Road to access Islamabad via Saidpur Road.
- Farooq Azam Road will be used to reroute traffic from Ghousia Chowk to Kurry Road.
- Stadium Road will also be completely closed from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road Turn during the games.
- The expressway would let traffic into Rawalpindi from 9th Avenue in Islamabad.
- Faizabad is the entry point to Islamabad for those traveling from Murree Road via Double Road to 9th Avenue.
To prevent disruption, traffic police have encouraged residents to take alternate routes and heed their directions. To control the situation, special traffic officers will be stationed at strategic locations.
