Many Pakistanis struggle with spoken English, so Google is launching a new AI function called “Speaking Practice” to aid with it. For users who have signed up for Search Labs, it is now only accessible in a select few nations, including Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela, according to TechCrunch. It should shortly begin to progressively expand to new areas.
Through entertaining AI-powered language learning activities, the business hopes to improve a user’s English skill with this function. These exercises aim to assist students in using newly acquired language in practical contexts.
This is not a completely new function, as it builds upon a Google feature that was published in October of last year with the same goal of assisting English language learners in improving their abilities. Initially, the function provided feedback on their grammar and intelligibility while allowing English language learners to practice speaking phrases in a contextual situation. Two-way conversational activities are now included in the new supplement, “Speaking practice.”
The release of this new function raises the possibility that Google is getting ready to take on well-known language learning services like Babbel and Duolingo head-to-head. Google has already made attempts to enter the language teaching market. The business released a tool in Search in 2019 to assist users in practicing word pronunciation correctly.
