LAHORE – Provincia capital Lahore on Saturday witnessed heavy rainfall which disrupted routine life in the metropolis.
Heavy rain left most parts of the city without a power supply, while several roads of the city were waterlogged.
The country’s second-largest city witnessed extreme monsoon season as PMD predicted more heavy rains in the city till next week.
Several localities including Lakshmi Chowk, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Gulberg, Pani Wala Talab, and Qurtaba Chowk received 99mm of rain.
Lahore Electric Supply Corporation (LESCO) said staff present on site was on high alert after the suspension of the power supply in the city. Officials faced inconvenience in restoration works due to the accumulation of water on roads and low-lying areas.
Citizens were also urged to stay away from electric poles to avoid electrocution.
In recent days, over 150 people have been killed while hundreds of others injured in rain-related incidents since the start of the rainy season while most deaths were reported in Punjab and KP.
