In a swift and courageous operation, security forces stopped an attack by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants on the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) complex. The militants tried to enter the facility with guns but were stopped, leading to the deaths of all 8 attackers. Sadly, two security personnel lost their lives in the exchange.
What happened at the Gwadar Port?
Today, BLA insurgents attacked the Gwadar Port Authority, shooting and trying to get inside. In response, security forces promptly launched a counter-operation, calling in reinforcements to tackle the heavily armed militants. A big gunfight broke out and lasted for some time.
During the operation, Gwadar police implemented strict check-posts in the area, preventing the militants’ plans to breach the security complex. As a result of the retaliatory gunfire, all eight terrorists were killed, preventing any further escalation of the situation. Residents reported hearing multiple explosions and sustained gunfire echoing across the city during the attack.
Later, a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that 8 attackers tried to get into the Gwadar Port Authority Colony but were stopped by the security forces. All the attackers were killed, and plenty of weapons, bullets, and explosives were found.
ISPR further disclosed that during the exchange of fire, two brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom. The fallen heroes were identified as 35-year-old Sepoy Bahar Khan from Dera Ghazi Khan and 28-year-old Sepoy Imran Ali from Khairpur. Their sacrifices underscore the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguarding the peace and stability of Balochistan.
President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, strongly condemned the attack on the Gwadar Port Authority. He appreciated the swift and effective response of the security forces, emphasizing their courage and resilience in the face of adversity. In another statement, ISPR said security forces are committed to stopping any attempts to make Balochistan unsafe. They said the brave soldiers’ sacrifices make them more determined to keep peace and security in the area.
