Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that no sit-ins or gatherings will be permitted in Islamabad, one day before the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) scheduled demonstration.
He made this statement on Saturday when he met with Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. Barrister Gohar was briefed by the interior minister on the circumstances surrounding the post-Islamabad High Court (IHC) judgment. The minister stated that the government is required to carry out the orders in their entirety.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard a plea filed by shopkeepers in Islamabad a day ago asking the court to order the PTI to stop its demonstration and declare it unlawful.
The judge decided that because of the Belarusian president’s visit, no demonstrations or protests that would violate a recent regulation on public meetings would be allowed during the weekend.
Barrister Gohar was also told by the minister with the activities of the 80-member high-level delegation headed by the Belarusian president from November 24 to 27.
He stated that the group will stay in Islamabad till Wednesday and that the president of Belarus will come in Pakistan on Monday.
PTI leaders are urged by Imran Khan to demonstrate on November 24.
Imran Khan, the founding chairman of the PTI, urged his party leaders to either “disassociate themselves from the party” or guarantee their attendance at the demonstration scheduled for November 24 in Islamabad in a post on X.
