A government delegation had offered JUI-F four ministries at the federal level and a share in the Balochistan government, a local private TV reported on Friday.
However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintained that JUI was ignored during the initial government formation process.
According to the sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not refuse to join the government but had told the Prime Minister that, for the time being, JUI would not be part of it. The sources further stated that the government delegation offered JUI four ministries, a share in the Balochistan government, and the post of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed that JUI was sidelined during the government formation and emphasized that consultation is essential in such matters. He remarked that the government belongs to someone else, yet politicians are being blamed for its failures.
He also noted that, for the first time in the country’s history, there is a minority government in power.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman further commented that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is engaging in issue-based politics.
On the other hand, Barrister Saif, spokesperson for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated that negotiations with Maulana Fazlur Rehman took place on the instructions of PTI’s founder.
He added that both PTI and Maulana Fazlur Rehman were on the same page regarding the alleged rigging in the February 8 elections.
He clarified that PTI never asked Maulana Fazlur Rehman to jointly take action from their platform.
He further mentioned that during the negotiations, Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintained contacts with the government, and if he believes his interests align with the government, that is his own decision.
In recent days, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Maulana would reject the politics of disruptive forces and assured that the government would work to address his concerns.
