Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has stated that Imran Khan needed to come out of stubbornness.
“My advice is to sit under Zardari’s leadership; everything will improve. The PTI should definitely bring about a revolution and have courage, but hold off the revolution until the Shanghai Conference,” advised Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan while addressing the first convocation ceremony of Rawalpindi Women University on Tuesday.
Governor Sardar Saleem Haider further stated that whether it’s Ali Amin Gandapur, Imran Khan, or any other PTI leader, it’s disappointing when they speak in a discouraging and irresponsible manner. They should engage in politics but also think about the country.
When Mohammed bin Salman visited, there was a sit-in in front of Parliament; when the Chinese President came, there was an attack on PTV. Such messages deter outsiders and prevent the country from improving. Now, with the Shanghai Conference approaching, they shouldn’t just sit idle; they should tie their horse in the shade for a while and then start the revolution. He said that they should have some mercy on this country.
He mentioned that “the current situation requires a leader like Nawabzada Nasrullah. In politics, having a completely “I won’t agree” policy is not acceptable. You can’t say if one bullet is fired, ten will be fired in retaliation. Protesting is your right, but sit at the table and talk, move things forward; stagnation is harming the country,”.
The Governor stated that Pakistan has a person named Asif Zardari, who has the ability to bring people together. Other political parties trust him and are willing to acknowledge him.
“There has already been much discussion regarding the issue of vice chancellors; there’s no conflict or stubbornness, and I only ask for 100% merit to be upheld in Punjab,” said the governor.
He stated that in constitutional amendments, the PPP had one goal and one thought: the Charter of Democracy is a signed document that included constitutional amendments and the 18th amendment.
The 19th amendment, he said, introduced many flaws, leading to strange decisions from the last three Chief Justices. The entire nation witnessed the decisions made post-19th amendment. The aspects missed in the Charter of Democracy are what the PPP wants to include now, which could not be incorporated in the 18th amendment.
Governor said that the PPP is working on this, with Bilawal Bhutto visiting various lawyers’ bars.
“ I also have to address the Faisalabad Bar, then go to the Islamabad and Lahore bars. We will present our case openly and wish to advance our issues through consensus. I believe constitutional amendments should happen, but they should be by consensus,”.
He noted that there is corruption in universities, with violations of merit and significant issues. If, as Chancellor, he succeeded in addressing these problems, it would be a major achievement.
He stated that Pakistan urgently needed economic stability; they have to go to the IMF for small amounts of dollars.
“The responsibility for this situation lies not with you, but with us. I have great expectations from the younger generation that they will play an important role in the country’s development,” he added.
