The government of Gilgit-Baltistan announced on February 6 a public holiday all over the region in reaction.
An official communication confirmed this decision so as to ensure universal acknowledgment of the death of the leader.
The region would observe three days of formal mourning and pay his legacy.
This would be seen as a form of dignity whereby the national flag would be hoisted at half-mast for the period.
He would be remembered with support for international development, education, and other philanthropic projects.
The death of the prince was announced Tuesday by the Aga Khan Development Network, with his passing reportedly at the age of 88 in Lisbon on Tuesday.
