Citing impending security concerns, the German Consulate in Karachi has ordered a temporary suspension of its services for non-EU citizens. An official tweet from the consulate’s account announced this significant development.
“Due to imminent security concerns, the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany will continue to be closed for services of non-EU citizens until further notice,” the consulate said in a statement.
The embassy has made arrangements for people having visas that have already been given, even though it has stopped processing new applications for non-EU individuals. Non-EU nationals whose visas have already been processed, the consulate guaranteed, can still pick them up.
The statement said, “Visas for non-EU nationals that have already been issued can be picked up.”
Many Pakistanis are unsure about their travel schedules and visa applications as a result of this abrupt change. The embassy has not yet given a thorough justification for the particular security issues that led to this decision.
Numerous individuals who depend on the embassy for visas and other associated services, including as tourists, business travelers, and students, are anticipated to be impacted by the service suspension.
The embassy advises applicants and interested parties to follow their official channels for future details, since they have not yet set a schedule for when services could resume.
