At least 41,182 Palestinians have died in the 12-month-long combat between Israeli and Palestinian forces, according to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, which was announced on Saturday.
According to the ministry, since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, there have been 95,280 injuries in the Gaza Strip, and the toll includes 64 dead in the last 48 hours.
Based on official Israeli data, an AFP total of 1,205 deaths—mostly civilians—followed Hamas’ October 7 strike on southern Israel, which precipitated the start of the Gaza war.
During the attack, the Palestinian organization also took 251 prisoners, 97 of whom are still being detained in Gaza, including 33 people who the Israeli military claims are dead. In the count are captives who died while in captivity.
According to the health ministry of the Hamas-run enclave, at least 41,118 people have died in Gaza as a result of Israel’s retaliatory military operation.
The ministry does not, however, offer information on the fatalities of civilians or Hamas fighters.
