The Metropolitan Police detained former BBC anchor Huw Edwards, 62, in November of last year on suspicion of having six category A indecent photos on his phone—the most serious kind.
Huw Edwards, a former BBC News presenter, has been charged of taking offensive pictures of children, authorities said on Monday.
Metropolitan Police claim that Edwards, a well-known television news presenter in the UK, has been accused of taking several lewd pictures of youngsters.
The 62-year-old host is allegedly in possession of six category A images—the gravest kind of obscene image—on his phone.
Wednesday is his court appearance. The Metropolitan Police took him into custody in November of last year.
The charges are said to have involved the sharing of 37 photographs on a WhatsApp discussion between 2020 and 2022.
He used to be the most well-known and well-paid news anchor for the BBC, and one of the primary presenters of BBC One’s Ten O’Clock News.
Edwards has spearheaded coverage of significant occasions including elections and royal weddings. He also informed the public of Queen Elizabeth’s passing in 2022.
