KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Riffat Mukhtar on Monday vowed to provide “foolproof” security to matches of the country’s flagship tournament HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL 9).
The Sindh IG Police assured the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf of “comprehensive security measures” for the PSL 9th edition matches scheduled to be held in Karachi.
The 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) is scheduled to be started from February 17.

Sindh IGP Riffat Mukhtar made the assurance during a meeting with PCB head Zaka Ashraf at Karachi’s Central Police Office. During, the Singh police chief and Zakar Ashraf discussed security measures for the PSL matches to be played in the port city.
As per a PCB statement, the top cop reiterated that the Sindh Police has always maintained high alertness and security in every important event at the National Stadium — set to host a total of 11 matches including the qualifier, two eliminators, and the final.
“Security matters will be handled with full professionalism and extraordinary measures in all aspects,” the IG said.
Meanwhile, Ashraf expressed complete satisfaction with the approved contingency plans for the PSL matches and expressed gratitude to the police officer.
Ashraf further ensured assurance and confirmed the commitment of cooperation from both himself and the PCB administration towards every possible collaboration.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s flagship cricket tournament will commence in Lahore with the opening match featuring two-time champions and current titleholders, Lahore Qalandars, going up against Islamabad United — winners of the 2016 and 2018 editions.
