Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will leave for Iran today to participate 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
According to sources, Ishaq Dar will attend the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) ministerial meeting in Mashhad, which is being held today and tomorrow.
Pakistan holds the post of Secretary General of ECO, and Secretary General Dr. Asad Majeed will meet Ishaq Dar in this meeting. This is the first time an ECO meeting has been held in Mashhad, Iran.
Previously, the ECO mission was held in Pakistan in 2017, that aimed to promote economic cooperation.
Foreign ministers of different countries will participate in this meeting to discuss regional development and economic partnership.
At the beginning of this year, Iran expressed interest in exporting meat, rice, and a few agricultural products from Pakistan.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister Ishaq revealed federal government actions regarding the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, declaring it important for the national interest.
The deputy prime minister, responding to a query about the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, stated that Pakistan, as a sovereign nation, would make decisions based on its national interests and would not permit external interference in its international commitments.
During the visit, both countries emphasized the significance of collaboration in the energy sector, including electricity trade, power transmission lines, and the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline Project.
