Five-day Eid holidays confirmed: UAE residents are set to enjoy a long break of up to five days for Eid Al Fitr, marking the first extended holiday of 2025.
The length of the holiday, which might have lasted four or five days and coincided with the weekend, was contingent upon the sighting of the crescent Moon.
‘More chances are there for a five-day holiday on Eid-ul-Fitr’ UAE Five-day Eid holidays confirmed by Astronomical forecasts.
On the first of Shawwal, people celebrated Eid Al Fitr, which marked the end of Ramadan. Based on moon observations, the Islamic Hijri calendar months ranged from 29 to 30 days.
In order to witness the crescent, the UAE’s Moon-sighting committee was supposed to meet on Saturday, March 29, during Ramadan 29.
If the committee observed the moon on 29th Ramadan, the Eid holiday would stretch from Sunday, March 30, to Tuesday, April 1. In this case, UAE will announce four-day holiday for Eid, because Saturday is already a weekend.
If the moon will not visible on March 29, Ramadan would last 30 days. In this case, in addition to the usual three days for Eid, there was also a holiday for Ramadan 30. Consequently, a five-day vacation would be created by extending the holiday period from Sunday, March 30, to Wednesday, April 2.
According to the Dubai Astronomy committe, Ramadan is expected to last 30 days. “Our calculations suggest that the holy month will likely to have 30 days. Its mean UAE residents could look forward to the five-day break”, Dubai Astronomy group stated.
