The Federal Investigation Agency has initiated the prosecution against Imran Riaz, a popular YouTuber and anchor, for allegedly conducting a campaign on social media against the judiciary.
A case reportedly has been filed at the FIA Cyber Crime Circle in Islamabad nominating Riaz as one of the seven suspects. They have been accused of being part of a campaign seen as critical of the judiciary.
Those booked include Imran Riaz, Mujahid Ali Shah, Allah Nawaz Khan, Sohail Ahmed, Umar Sadiq, Siddiq Anjum, Musaddiq Abbasi, and Tariq Saleem.
The complaint was filed by Ahmed Sadiq Khan of G-14 Islamabad and the case has been registered against them under Sections of the PECA Act among which are charges of ‘Violation of Privacy’, threat, and abetting to crime.
With the case now in the hands of the FIA Cyber Crime unit, which will investigate it, some believe that arrests may be next.
There are also reports in local media of similar legal actions being considered against other content creators and YouTubers.
