Anticipating breakout of another protest movement in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the federal government approved the deployment of Frontier Constabulary in AJK region.
The federal interior minister Mohsin Naqvi gave the approval of the deployment on the request of AJK prime minister Chaudhry Anwaarul Haq.
Azad Kashmir regions saw the violent protest movement a month before resulting deaths of police officials and civilians. The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) led the protests against inflation, demanding subsidy on flour and electricity. Thousands participated in the protest marches, facing the government to accept the JAAC demands.
The leaders of JAAC say the government failed to implement the charter of demands despite promises, announcing the sit-in against the government attitude. Their call for peaceful protest raised fears among the government ranks about the breakout of another movement and it decided to deploy paramilitary force in the AJK.
The opposition parties in the region expressed concern, submitting the call attention notice in the AJK assembly.
